An individual session designed around you: bring your questions, your project or your difficulties, and we work on exactly what you need.

A different format

Not everyone learns the same way. Some people learn better in a group; others need a space where they don’t have to follow anyone else’s pace. The tutorial is for the latter — and for the former, when they want to dig into something specific.

It might be to resolve a doubt that’s been sitting unanswered for a while. To learn to develop film for the first time without the pressure of a group. To work on a personal photographic project with someone who understands it. To review a series and find out where to improve.

It starts with a brief conversation — by email or phone — to understand where you’re coming from and what the session should achieve. The minimum session is 2 hours; it can be extended to 3 or 4 hours depending on the goal.

Examples of possible content

  • First time in the darkroom: film development step by step
  • Review and editing of a personal photographic project
  • Learning to make paper prints from your own negatives
  • Understanding why your photos don’t come out the way you expect
  • Exploring a specific technique: large format, pinhole, alternative processes
  • Preparation for a commission or an exhibition

How it works

Write to us and briefly explain what you’d like to work on. We agree on the length and content of the session and propose a date.

Sessions are always individual (1:1) and priced by the hour: €60/hour, minimum 2 hours. You can book blocks of 2, 3 or 4 hours.

What’s included

  • Individual (1:1) session with Joan
  • Use of Llumàtics darkroom and equipment
  • Standard darkroom chemicals (if the session includes film development)

What to bring

  • Everything you want to work on: camera, negatives, prints, project, questions
  • The session is shaped by a prior conversation — no special preparation needed

Not included

  • Photographic paper — bring what you need; we can advise if necessary
  • Film / rolls — Fomapan 35mm and 120 format available at €12/roll
  • Photographic papers — pricing on request depending on type, size and finish
